Four questions to answer

  1. What result is needed? Name the use of the finished work and who will use it.
  2. What exactly is included? Write quantity, format and the source material you need. “One landing-page copy document with five sections” is clearer than “website help.”
  3. What needs a separate discussion? Name extra audiences, formats or continuing work that is outside this outline.
  4. What is the next decision? Write the specific question, who can answer it and the date you will check again.

When a new request arrives

Suppose the original outline is one landing-page document and the client later asks for follow-up emails. Record the new request separately, discuss the effect on the work and timing, and keep the earlier outline. Do not quietly fold an unresolved request into a completed project.

This fictional scenario illustrates record keeping. The starter is a planning aid; use your usual process for contracts, pricing and professional advice.

What the paid kit adds

The $9 Solo Service Project Kit connects project IDs, tasks, logged hours and accepted changes in a four-sheet workbook. It includes a separate fictional example, four fuller Word documents and a five-page guide. The free starter is useful on its own.
