Calculate a planning timeline
Planning estimate: the local plan cites the official pages below but does not include their full rule text. Detailed date boundaries have not been reverified during this offline build. Confirm your dates with SSA / Medicare before changing contributions or coverage.
Tool entries are not stored or sent; they stay in this page’s memory. Clearing or refreshing removes the displayed entries. Your browser may retain autofill information independently. A saved PDF contains your entries; keep it private. Do not enter Medicare or Social Security numbers.
Print includes entries, results, assumptions and sources. Dates use YYYY-MM-DD. Entered dates are not coverage determinations.
Plan around the actual Part A date
Use this only for premium-free Part A at age 65 or later. The six-month planning assumption counts back six calendar months from the application month and does not go earlier than the eligibility month you enter. Stop contributions before the resulting coverage month, including employer contributions. If you already have a Medicare notice, enter its effective month instead. Do not use this to calculate allowable annual contributions or the tax treatment of excess contributions.
Example: an October 2026 application with eligibility in January 2026 gives an April 2026 planning coverage month; the suggested last contribution date is March 31, 2026. If eligibility is July 2026 instead, the estimate stops at July and the last contribution date is June 30.
Automatic enrollment, Social Security benefits, premium-paid Part A, disability and earlier applications require individual review. If contributions have already continued into a coverage month, seek tax guidance; this tool cannot correct them.
